Early in September, we had the privilege of donating monitors, docking stations, keyboards, and cables to the amazing Sam from Sam’s Spares. Sam’s Spares is a completely volunteer-run non-profit organisation dedicated to saving unwanted IT e-waste from landfills.
Led by Samuel Thomas, a young man passionate about community, the environment, and technology, Sam and his team of volunteers repair and refurbish computers, laptops, mobile phones, gaming systems, and other electronics. They then provide these items free of charge to those in need across Western Australia.
As an individual with autism and Tourette syndrome, Sam works to challenge the stigmas and limitations faced by his neurodivergent community.Sam’s goal for 2024 was to refurbish AUD 1 million worth of IT Technology for the WA Community, and well and truly surpassed that in just 6.5 months. This equates to around 2,800 IT devices donated to the community.
We look forward to continuing to work with Sam and supporting the outstanding work he does for the WA community.
